Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani dies at 93

Valentino Garavani, the Italian fashion designer and founder of the celebrated Valentino brand, has died at the age of 93.
The funeral will take place in Rome on January 23 at 11:00 am.
Valentino Garavani was born on May 11, 1932, in the Italian city of Voghera. In 1959, he founded his own fashion house, Valentino, in Rome, which quickly became a symbol of Italian haute couture.
Throughout his career, Valentino dressed some of the world’s most iconic figures, including Jacqueline Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, members of royal families, and numerous Hollywood stars. Over the years, six actresses wore Valentino gowns when winning Academy Awards.
In 2007, Valentino announced his retirement from the fashion industry. Despite stepping away from active work, he remained an enduring icon of high fashion and elegance worldwide.
