The GD founder and honorary chair Bidzina Ivanishvili appeared top on the list of the renewed political council.

Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chair of the Georgian Dream ruling party, has retained his position within the party as he continues to lead the newly composed political council.

The council was finalized on Wednesday during a brief congress, which also saw Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze appointed as the new party chairman, replacing the retiring Irakli Garibashvili.

Kobakhidze will now hold dual roles as both Prime Minister and party chairman. The 18-minute congress, with speeches made only by the party’s executive secretary, Mamuka Mdinaradze, and the newly elected chairman, also saw a reshuffle in the composition of the party’s political council.

Notable absences from the renewed political council include Irakli Garibashvili, Archil Talakvadze, Anri Okhanashvili, and Tornike Rizhvadze, who were previously members. In their place, Nino Tsilosani and Sulkhan Tamazashvili have been appointed as new members.

The updated Georgian Dream political council now comprises 14 members:
