Viktor Kipiani, a lawyer of the former prime minister and the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party has criticized the controversial foreign agents bill that was rejected by the parliament on Friday amid large – scale protests.

In his recent interview with the media, Kipiani stressed “unfortunately, recent Georgian politics has become politics for power. Politics for power has overshadowed long-term goals and priorities of the country’s development”.

He noted before the consideration of this draft law, the question of the feasibility of its adoption was not studied.

Anri Okhanashvili, an MP of the ruling party, on Monday said Ivanishvili suspended cooperation with Kipiani earlier before the interview.

Ivanishvili is cited as a “shadow ruler” of Georgia by the part of the domestic opposition.
