Jeihun Muhamedali, a United National Movement (UNM) member, stressed that Roushen Iskanderov, reportedly seen stuffing ballots at a polling station in Marneuli, remains free despite statements suggesting he had been detained. Muhamedali stated that, contrary to claims by the Georgian Parliament Speaker that Iskanderov had been arrested, he had been seen moving freely.

Muhamedali recounted the events of October 26 in the village of Sadakhlo, Marneuli District, where Iskanderov was allegedly caught on video adding ballots into the box at polling station 69. “The Central Election Commission promised accountability, but Iskanderov continued the same activities at other polling stations,” he said.

According to Muhamedali, two days later, the Speaker of Parliament announced Iskanderov’s detention and launched an investigation.

“It is now October 30, and Iskanderov is still freely moving around, without any evidence of his arrest. Local media have been actively covering this, with some outlets attempting to verify the arrest with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which has neither confirmed nor denied it,” he said.

The UNM member called the situation “deeply troubling,” adding that it highlights a broader issue with accountability.

“It is not surprising that he hasn’t been punished, as Georgian Dream conducted a special operation against the Georgian population on October 26 and may be unwilling to penalize their own activist. Georgian Dream has influenced the will of the Georgian people through actions reminiscent of Russian tactics,” he said.

Muhamedali called for an international investigation to identify those
involved in widespread election fraud and ensure that every vote is protected.
