UK PM Boris Johnson, who announced his resignation Thursday, claimed that his country would continue to support Ukraine in its battle for freedom “as long as it lasts.”

Speaking about the results achieved under his premiership, Johnson focused on the struggle of the UK government against Vladimir Putin’s aggression.

He said that he was proud of ending Brexit, getting out of the pandemic, “the fastest vaccine rollout in Europe, the fastest ending of the lockdown and standing up against  Russia’s aggression.”

Johnson had to resign following the latest ethics scandal around his leadership that led some 50 senior lawmakers to quit the government.

The move  will spark an internal election to pick a new leader of the Conservative Party, who will also be the next prime minister. That process is expected  to take place over the summer.
