Journalist Vakho Sanaia has slammed the country’s court system after a judge of Tbilisi City Court sentenced three individuals to six-months in prison for attacking him and his family on February 25, 2021.

Sanaia said that Giorgi Sakhelashvili, Vazha Gigauri and Suliko Sakevarishvili attacked him ‘for his journalist activities’ when he was with his wife, a child and a family relative.

All the three detainees will be released today because they have already spent six months in prison.

Sakevarishvili was also sentenced to 150 hour community work, while Gigauri will have to pay a 2,500 GEL fine along with the 150-hour community work.

Sanaia says that the country has a ‘shameful court and a shameful government’ which let criminals out.
