Journalists of the opposition-minded Mtavari Arkhi channel claim they were attacked by the members of the Conservative Movement, a party which was founded by a pro-Russian Alt-Info group.

The channel says that its journalists and a cameraman were physically abused at the party’s Zugdidi office in western Georgia where individuals made pro-Ukrainian inscriptions on the building.

Mtavari Arkhi reports that the employees of the local mayor’s office appeared at the scene to remove the inscriptions when the media crew reached the building which was followed by the attack.

The media outlet says that several individuals have already been arrested by police for the incident.

Members of the party have plans to leave for Russia in the future, refusing to disclose the reason behind the trip.

The party was unable to open offices in several Georgian regions due to the public protest.
