Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze on Wednesday urged three escaped inmates from Tbilisi Aversi clinic to “surrender timely”.
“A sad incident took place today. We confirm that three prisoners escaped from the medical facility when they were brought there. We cannot share more information at this stage. Operational and search measures are underway”, Bregadze told the press.
“I call on these three persons to come to their senses in time and surrender to the law enforcement officers. Maybe with this they will at least reduce their responsibility for the crime they committed today”, he added. Bregadze added his body was working in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Certainly, all kinds of measures are being taken to arrest these people in time. They did not pose a threat to society, there is nothing dangerous. Similar types of crime occur in all states, however, appropriate responsibility arises. If a violation of the law is revealed by any employee, that employee will be held responsible. I take the responsibility that the necessary legal measures will be taken,” Bregadze noted.
The clinic said the boarding service had brought the prisoners to the medical facility earlier on Wednesday.
