Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has rejected the resolution adopted by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) concerning the political situation in Georgia, calling it part of an ongoing “campaign of lies” and insisting it would have no real impact.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Kaladze said the Georgian public “clearly understands” both the internal and external dynamics behind such statements, accusing European liberal circles of hostility toward Georgia’s sovereignty and stability.

“This campaign of lies continues. It’s not the first time such resolutions have been adopted, and the public already knows very well how they are made,” Kaladze said. “What matters most is that the Georgian people have said ‘no’ to the arrogant European bureaucracy that fights against Georgia’s statehood, peace, and economic development.”

Kaladze argued that society was capable of analyzing the political context both domestically and internationally, adding that the resolution and similar statements “will have no effect.”

“People see what is happening - not only inside the country but also in the region and the world. Therefore, such resolutions and statements, filled with lies, will bring no results,” he concluded.

The comments came after the ALDE Party, which unites liberal and centrist political forces across Europe, passed a resolution criticizing the Georgian government’s democratic backsliding and urging the European Union to maintain support for Georgian civil society.
