Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi, has attributed recent increases in fuel prices to ongoing developments in the Middle East, saying the issue affects not only Georgia but the wider world.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Kaladze said “anyone who follows events can see how serious the situation is in the Middle East. There should be no questions about why prices are rising. This is not only happening in Georgia; in various European countries and cities, people are already talking about fuel shortages and related problems. Of course, this is a serious challenge not just for us, but globally. Prices are driven by the events taking place in the Middle East.”
