Tbilisi has begun installing its New Year and Christmas illuminations, with the official switch-on scheduled for 12 December, the city’s mayor, Kakha Kaladze, has announced.

Speaking at a municipal government meeting, Kaladze said preparations for the festive season were well underway and called on private companies to take an active role in this year’s celebrations.

“Tbilisi City Hall is preparing for Christmas and New Year events. The installation of lights is already in full swing and will be ceremonially switched on 12 December,” he said. Kaladze urged businesses to join the initiative by placing their own decorations in designated public spaces such as parks and squares.

“Each year we allocate special areas where companies can install their illuminations. Together, we create a warm and festive atmosphere in the capital,” he added.
