Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze on Thursday said that the capital was fully prepared to handle the heavy snowfall forecast for tonight, assuring residents that all relevant municipal services were operating in emergency mode.

In a video address published on Facebook, Kaladze said that significant precipitation was expected across Tbilisi and its surrounding areas. He noted that all necessary equipment had been mobilized to ensure road clearance and maintain traffic flow.

The mayor thanked the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for its cooperation, highlighting effective coordination during previous heavy snowfall. He stressed that patrol police will continue assisting in maintaining road safety and that operational information will be exchanged in real time.

“If necessary, residents can contact the municipal hotline. We will do everything possible to address any issues that may arise,” Kaladze said.

Deputy Mayor Irakli Bendeliani confirmed that all relevant city services, including district administrations, have switched to a 24-hour operational regime. He further noted that the municipality was fully mobilized to prevent disruptions to vehicular movement and public transportation.

Head of Tbilservice Group, Giorgi Papava, added that specialized machinery and technical salt supplies were sufficient to manage the expected snowfall. Approximately 200 personnel have been deployed across the capital and annexed territories to respond promptly to icy roads or other weather-related challenges.
