Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party and Mayor of Tbilisi, has accused European diplomats and officials of “continued interference” in the country’s internal affairs, describing their statements as “saturated with lies” and politically motivated.

Speaking to journalists, Kaladze said the West's alleged involvement forms part of “attempts at coups” and efforts to undermine the current government.

“These people are ordinary participants in this process,” he said, referring to critical statements by foreign diplomats. “They attempted to interfere during the parliamentary elections, and unfortunately, it continues.”

Kaladze also addressed the issue of media freedom in Georgia, claiming that the landscape had changed significantly since the Georgian Dream came to power.

“Before 2012, one person had all the media outlets in his pocket,” he said. “Now, the media is absolutely free, and people have access to correct information.”
