In addition to infrastructure development, Kaladze reiterated the importance of social and healthcare programs

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said the city administration will intensify efforts in 2026 to implement large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at improving living conditions in the capital, while calling on residents for patience and support during construction works.

Speaking at the first meeting of the Tbilisi municipal government in 2026 on Thursday, Kaladze said the city’s priorities include greener urban spaces, upgraded infrastructure, improved public transport, and the development of new parks and recreational areas.

“We must do everything possible to leave a better Tbilisi for future generations - one that is greener, with well-organized infrastructure, modern public transport, new parks, and recreational spaces,” Kaladze said.

The mayor noted that the municipal government would continue fulfilling its commitments to residents and provide detailed information on both planned and ongoing projects. He described 2026 as a year marked by large-scale and distinctive infrastructure initiatives, details of which will be announced gradually.

Kaladze thanked residents who supported the current city administration for a third term and emphasized that public cooperation is essential for the successful implementation of major projects.

“Without the support and understanding of the population, it will be difficult to carry out projects of this scale,” he said.

Addressing concerns related to construction disruptions, Kaladze explained that infrastructure rehabilitation involves more than surface-level improvements. According to him, projects begin with the replacement of deteriorated underground utilities, which often leads to road closures, increased noise, and temporary restrictions on gas and water supply.

“These works require time and patience. I once again ask residents for understanding so that projects can be completed quickly and to a high standard. This is a fundamental principle for our team,” the mayor said.

In addition to infrastructure development, Kaladze reiterated the importance of social and healthcare programs, stating that several such initiatives will continue to receive funding from the municipal budget in 2026.

“Despite economic progress, there are still families who need support. Both the state and the municipality will continue to stand by them and ensure they are not left alone with their problems,” Kaladze said.
