Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze on Friday expressed solidarity with Ukraine, claiming he did not wish for even Georgia’s adversaries to experience the hardships Ukraine was currently enduring.

Speaking to journalists, he stressed that while Georgia sympathized with the Ukrainian people, the country’s foremost priority remained protecting its own sovereignty and citizens.

Kaladze claimed “It is an extremely difficult state. I wish peace for the Ukrainian people; Ukraine certainly did not deserve this.”

He further stressed that Georgia’s pragmatic policies aimed to prevent a similar crisis at home while maintaining national security.
