“There will be no revolution or coup in the country,”  Kaladze said.

Kakha Kaladze, the Secretary-General of the ruling Georgian Dream party and incumbent Tbilisi Mayor, has said he was unconcerned by divisions within the opposition, stressing that the government was focused on the capital’s challenges rather than political disputes ahead of the October municipal elections.

Speaking on Monday, Kaladze said “disagreements” among opposition figures were “their issue to resolve”. “I am not interested in whether the United National Movement clashes with [opposition figure from Federalists Tamar] Chogoleishvili or vice versa. Who goes where and how is for them to decide,” he remarked.

The mayor also criticised what he described as frequent opposition talk of revolution or attempts to overthrow the government, insisting such scenarios were impossible under the current administration.

“There will be no revolution or coup in the country,”  Kaladze said. “Those who dare to attempt something must be careful - everyone will receive an appropriate response within the law.”
