Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said that meetings were currently taking place aimed at restoring Georgia’s strategic partnership with the United States.

Kaladze made the statement while commenting on the visit of Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia to the US State Department.

“I have not spoken directly with the Foreign Minister, but our position is well known to everyone. We have repeatedly stated that we are ready to restore the strategic partnership, reset relations, and start from a new chapter. What was happening under President Biden’s administration went far beyond the framework of friendship and friendly relations,” Kaladze said.

He recalled what he described as unfair treatment toward Georgia, including critical statements and the imposition of sanctions.

“We have said many times that we support the priorities President Trump spoke about - defeating the ‘deep state’ and ending wars. Naturally, we stood by these priorities,” Kaladze added.

Speaking about the potential reset in relations, the mayor said the process was ongoing.

“As for resetting relations, we should wait and see. The process is underway and meetings have already taken place. We are ready for this. Of course, once this happens, it will be reflected in relations, in our country, and in the attitude toward Georgia,” Kaladze said.
