Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has urged residents to help protect the capital’s parks, green spaces and other public infrastructure, expressing concern over continuing cases of vandalism across the city.
Speaking at a presentation of new equipment for the municipal company Ecoservice Group, Kaladze said public spaces created and maintained by the city belonged to all residents and should be protected collectively.
“I want to ask every Tbilisi resident to take care of what we have created together. No square, park, children’s playground or planted tree belongs only to City Hall. They belong to our children, our families and every resident of Tbilisi,” Kaladze said.
He said vandalism was not merely damage to municipal property but also showed disrespect for the city, its residents and the future of their children.
“Tbilisi is our common home, and caring for it cannot be the responsibility of City Hall alone. The city will become truly European when each of us feels responsible for the environment in which we live,” he said.
Kaladze added that the municipality would continue investing in green spaces and efforts to create a cleaner and healthier urban environment.
“Our goal is for Tbilisi to be a city that every resident can be proud of, where cleanliness, order, greenery and care for people are part of everyday life,” he said.
