Mother, minor arrested in eastern Georgia over violent home robbery

The suspects fled the scene following the incident but were later detained as a result of operative and investigative measures, police said

Police in Kakheti, eastern Georgia, have arrested three individuals, including a mother and her minor child, on charges of group robbery involving unlawful entry into a home, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The suspects - born in 1982, 1990 and 2008 - allegedly broke into a house in the village of Karajala, Telavi Municipality, late on 29 March. They are accused of assaulting a resident, born in 1955, and stealing 8,200 lari, bank cards and a mobile phone using force.
The suspects fled the scene following the incident but were later detained as a result of operative and investigative measures, police said. Authorities reported that the stolen cash, bank cards and mobile phone were recovered as evidence.
The crime carries a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
