Repeat offender arrested in Georgia over attempt to distribute large quantity of narcotics

Georgian police have arrested a man in the Kakheti region on suspicion of attempting to illegally purchase, store, and distribute a particularly large quantity of the synthetic drug Alpha-PVP, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said on Monday.

The suspect, identified only as N.B., was born in 1999 and has a history of multiple criminal convictions. According to the MIA, the arrest followed joint operational and investigative measures conducted by the Investigation and Detective Divisions of the Kakheti Police Department.

Law enforcement officers seized what they described as an “exceptionally large amount” of Alpha-PVP from the suspect’s possessions, vehicle, residence, and other locations he had reportedly indicated. The narcotics were believed to be intended for further distribution.

In addition to the drugs, police recovered adhesive tape, an electric scale, a mobile phone, and a drone allegedly used by the suspect to scout locations for hiding the substances.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted under several articles of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which include charges that carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
