Two arrested in Eastern Georgia for large-scale drug possession, cannabis cultivation

The crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment under Georgian law

Officers of the Kakheti Police Department have arrested two previously convicted individuals on charges of illegal possession of a large quantity of narcotics and unlawful cultivation of cannabis plants, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced.
The detainees, identified as I.G. (born in 1986) and Z.Ch. (born in 1979), were taken into custody following a series of operational and investigative actions carried out at different times.
According to the MIA, police searches conducted in the suspects’ homes, outbuildings, and yards led to the seizure of a particularly large quantity of marijuana and several cannabis plants.
The crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment under Georgian law.
