EU’s Kallas stresses continued pressure on Russia, highlights importance of supporting Ukraine

Supporting Ukraine in the ongoing war is a better option than risking a potential Russian victory, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said during a press briefing on Saturday.

“Russia’s overnight strikes on Kyiv clearly demonstrate its intent to continue the war. Today in Berlin, we discussed ways to increase support for Ukraine while simultaneously strengthening Europe’s defence”, Kallas said.

She highlighted the necessity of ongoing backing for Ukraine.

“Supporting Ukraine is a good deal compared to the risk of a Russian victory. Wars are lost by those whose soldiers or funding run out first. That is why we must continue putting pressure on Russia through sanctions. Sanctions work best when backed by international partners”, Kallas added.
