Khatia Buniatishvili, the renowned Georgian pianist, has expressed her strong disapproval of the recent actions of the Georgian government, condemning the violence against citizens. In a post on X, she described the current situation in Georgia as a tragic choice between freedom and peace, which the country has faced for years.

Buniatishvili criticized the government for its actions, suggesting that it had been trying to avoid conflict and maintain peace with its powerful neighbor by staying out of the international spotlight. However, she strongly condemned the government’s treatment of young, passionate citizens who, motivated by love for their country and the hope for a better future, were met with violence and indifference. The pianist emphasized that the government has a responsibility to protect its citizens, reminding them that a state is built from its people, and that one person represents the whole country.

”The government is physically abusing people and forgets that their duty is to protect each citizen,” she stressed.
