Khatia Dekanoidze noted that, in the context of human rights, only Russia has praised Georgia

Khatia Dekanoidze, a leader of the United National Movement, said it is significant that Georgia’s issues were once again being discussed in the US Congress during turbulent geopolitical times.

She noted that, in the context of human rights, only Russia has praised Georgia.

“It is very important that, in this turbulent geopolitical period, Georgia’s issue remains prominent and is being discussed in Congress, in the House of Representatives, at the Helsinki Commission. Everyone knows - especially the Trump administration - that Georgia cooperates with regimes such as Russia and Iran, and they see that human rights are being violated in the country. In the context of human rights, only Russia has praised Georgia. We saw this during the presentation of the UN annual report, where only Russia commended Georgia and the sanctioned Darakhvelidze,” Dekanoidze said.

The Helsinki Commission is scheduled to review Georgia’s situation today.
