Khatia Dekanoidze, deputy chair of the National Committee of the opposition United National Movement, emphasized the strong support Georgia receives from members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Dekanoidze, who herself served as a PACE member for many years, referred to the delegates as “true supporters of Georgia.”

Dekanoidze noted that she will be sharing specific information with the PACE members about electoral violations ahead of the upcoming elections.

“I have concrete information and questions regarding pre-election violations and the reactions to these, as well as any potential irregularities during and after the elections,” Dekanoidze said.

A delegation from the Council of Europe is currently in Tbilisi. The six-member group has already met with representatives of civil society and the media, following earlier meetings at the president’s office. Further discussions are planned with both ruling party and opposition members, as well as with the Central Election Commission and Anti-Corruption Bureau leaders. After their visit, the delegation is expected to make official statements. They will also be observing the election process firsthand.
