Khatia Dekanoidze, deputy chair of the National Committee of the United National Movement, has accused the ruling Georgian Dream party of showing “disrespect” towards Ukraine by using what she called an “unbelievably disgusting formula” in its political messaging.

Speaking on Wednesday, Dekanoidze said Georgian Dream’s stance reflected “a Russian position, not one based on Georgia’s national interests”, pointing to the party’s rhetoric about the 2008 Russia-Georgia war and its reaction to the recent peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

She further criticised pre-election billboards in Georgian cities that feature images of destroyed buildings in Ukraine alongside the slogan “No to war, choose peace”.

Dekanoidze claimed this was part of a long-running “psychological violence” campaign used by the government for propaganda purposes.
