Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday said the ongoing conflict in Ukraine had endured for an extended period and was anticipated to persist for another year or “slightly longer”, pointing to concurrent election processes in several countries.

He claimed “in such circumstances, focusing on a resolution to the conflict from various perspectives may prove challenging.

Nevertheless, there is a reasonable likelihood that the conflict in Ukraine will conclude by the beginning of 2025—we will observe developments in this regard. Presently, the front-line situation poses challenges from various angles”.

The official said the “primary objective” of the current Georgian Dream authorities was to safeguard “national interests”.
