Margarita Simonyan, director of RT and Kremlin propagandist, says that the Georgian government is “surprisingly adequate,” and offered lifting ban on direct flights to Georgia in her recent tweet which was imposed back in 2019 in response to anti-Russian rallies in Georgia caused by the presence of Russian MPs in the state legislature.

“They are looking forward to it,” Simonyan said.

Along with the post about the flights, Simonyan published a headline of an article by Sputnik Georgia, saying that the “Georgian government has no plans to consider the initiative of the opposition to recognize the provocation in Bucha as a genocide.”

In the article Sputnik cited the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party Irakli Kobakhidze as saying that they would not discuss any initiatives by the opposition as the latter had plans to “drag the country into the war.”

Earlier, Nika Melia, chair of the United National Movement opposition party, said that the party would register a resolution recognizing the genocide in Ukraine.

Kobakhidze said that the ruling party would wait for the judgment of the court to call the massacre in Bucha  a genocide.
