Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Central Criminal Police Department, together with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Ministry of Finance, have arrested three individuals on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing, and importing particularly large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances into Georgia.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Monday the detainees included a Georgian citizen, N.Ch., born in 1983, and two foreign nationals: D.H., born in 1983, and A.S., born in 1985.

Law enforcement officers seized a large quantity of narcotic and psychotropic tablets as evidence during the inspection of the suspects’ hand luggage at Kutaisi International Airport.

The offenses carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment under Georgian law.
