Two men have been detained in western Georgia following a fatal shooting in the city of Kutaisi, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has said.

Officers from the Imereti Police Department arrested two previously convicted individuals, identified by their initials as Sh.R., born in 1991, and G.S., born in 1993. They face charges of intentional grievous bodily harm and failure to report a crime.

Investigators said the incident took place on 30 April, when an altercation escalated and one of the suspects allegedly shot a man, born in 1985 and identified as B.Zh., using a hunting rifle before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to a medical facility but later died of his injuries.

Police said the second suspect, who was present at the scene, did not inform law enforcement authorities about the incident.
