A landslide struck a remote stretch of road in western Georgia on Monday morning, temporarily cutting off traffic near the village of Babili, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred on the 91st kilometre of the Lentekhi-Lasdili road, a mountainous route prone to geological instability. According to the Roads Department and the Municipality City Hall, the landslide halted all vehicle movement in the area.
One car was caught in the debris, but the two occupants managed to exit the vehicle safely and were not injured.
Local authorities have mobilised heavy machinery to clear the road, and restoration efforts are currently underway. Officials said the road is expected to reopen later in the day, depending on weather and safety conditions.
