A member of the Georgian Labour Party, Lasha Chkhartishvili, has been sentenced to five days in administrative detention.

The decision was announced by Judge Tornike Kochkiani on Thursday.

Chkhartishvili had been summoned to court over a comment he posted on another person’s social media post. The investigation accused him of insulting a public official.

The defence has pledged that it will appeal the ruling.
