Georgia's First Deputy Head of the State Security Service, Lasha Maghradze, on Wednesday said the country has not recorded a single terrorist attack over the past 15 years, highlighting the effectiveness of its counterterrorism efforts during a plenary session at the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week in New York.
The State Security Service said Maghradze told delegates that Georgian authorities had also significantly reduced the risk of the country being used as a transit route for terrorist activity.
He noted that several individuals linked to terrorist activities had been detained in 2026 as part of ongoing counterterrorism operations.
In his address, Maghradze also stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation against terrorism and warned of the growing threat posed by the misuse of artificial intelligence by terrorist groups. He said coordinated action among UN member states remained essential to addressing evolving security challenges.
