Lawyer of former president Mikheil Saakashvili, Dimitri Sadzaglishvili, says that the former president has resumed taking medication.

Saakashvili said yesterday that he suspended taking medication after his 50-day hunger strike as his family members and doctors were not allowed to see him, and that a TV set was also confiscated.

“The protest worked. The TV set was not taken out of his room but it did not work for more than an hour because of a poor signal . Now the problem has been resolved,” Sadzaglishvili said.

The Special Penitentiary Service, however, says that Saakashvili ‘cheated and misled the public by his statement.’

The agency claimed that neither the TV set was confiscated, nor Saakashvili was banned from visitation.
