Former Prime Minister under the United National Movement Government, Nika Gilauri, has stepped up his public engagement in the lead-up to the October 26 elections, presenting economic development plans for Georgia, according to Lela Jejelava, a member of the Unity – National Movement. Jejelava praised Gilauri’s recent efforts, noting that the party is focused on its clearly defined priorities while actively reaching out to voters.

“Mr. Nika Gilauri has appeared very actively and openly lately, he has presented quite good visions about the economic development of Georgia,” Jejelava said, highlighting his contributions to the ongoing political discourse. She added that UNM is committed to direct engagement, saying, “the leaders of the party meet the population every day.”

Gilauri’s recent public appearances have fueled speculation about potential political shifts. He was seen at a meeting with President Salome Zourabichvili at the Orbeliani Palace, which led to assumptions that discussions were underway about forming a technical government in the aftermath of the October 26 general elections. However, reports later indicated that these speculations were unsubstantiated, with no confirmation of such plans.
