Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of the Lelo opposition party, on Tuesday said Nika Melia, a former chairman of the United National Movement, and its potential party, will serve as their “strategic partner.”
Khazaradze clarified that while there haven’t been formal negotiations, there has been an exchange of requests and information, with both leaders confirming their intention to be strategic partners.
He emphasized the importance of seeking voter input on this collaboration, stating that their common goal is to challenge the current government and form a coalition government.
Melia disclosed his plans to establish a new political entity during a press conference on December 7, expressing his commitment to moving towards the future.
This decision follows internal strife within the UNM over a year ago when Levan Khabeishvili won the chairmanship race.
During the 2021 municipal elections, Melia ran as a candidate for Tbilisi Mayor under the United Opposition banner.
