Public Defender Levan Ioseliani has sparked controversy following comments on shelters for victims of violence and trafficking. While discussing the issue during a live broadcast on Georgia’s First Channel, Ioseliani allegedly disclosed the location of a shelter, prompting backlash from activists and public concern.

Ioseliani dismissed the accusations, claiming the uproar is unwarranted. “There was no disclosure of personal information or specific locations on my part. This reaction is entirely artificial and blown out of proportion,” Ioseliani told First Channel.

Following public outcry, the broadcaster removed the segment in question. Activists are now demanding the relocation of the shelter, citing concerns over safety and privacy for its residents.

Ioseliani expressed relief that the challenges within shelters are finally being addressed. “I’ve been raising this issue for a long time, and it’s good that it’s finally getting attention,” he stated, adding that the situation has been misinterpreted and politicized.
