Levan Machavariani, First Deputy Chair of the Georgian Dream parliamentary faction, has defended the ruling party’s record on national stability and security, highlighting Georgia’s position as “one of the safest countries in the region”.

Machavariani’s remarks came in response to the latest data from the US State Department, which ranked Georgia as the safest country in the region for travelers.

Writing on social media on Tuesday, he claimed that despite “unprecedented pressure, coercion, and blackmail,” his party had remained steadfast, acting solely in accordance with Georgia’s national interests.

“Through our careful, pragmatic, and flexible policies, Georgia is considered one of the safest countries in the world. Even as turmoil surrounds our region, we preserve peace,” Machavariani wrote.

He credited the Georgian public’s support for enabling the party to maintain its approach and stressed that the “only guarantor of peace and stability in Georgia is the Georgian Dream under the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili.” He added that those who have not yet recognized this fact should “start thinking seriously.”
