The Chairman of Georgia’s Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, Levan Makhashvili, on Monday expressed confidence that the ruling party would secure victory across all 64 municipalities in the upcoming local elections.
In his press comments, Makhashvili cited what he described as the government's "strong position" and the "complete discrediting" of the opposition as key factors behind his forecast of an “overwhelming win.”
"We are confident in our victory because we have not lost touch with the population for a single moment and we know their moods," he said.
Makhashvili also delivered a critique of the opposition, likening its current state to “a person who has fallen into a swamp” and continued to make “incomprehensible decisions” that “only worsened” its position.
