Chair of Georgian Parliament’s European Integration Committee Levan Makhashvili on Tuesday criticised the latest resolution on Georgia prepared by the European Parliament, saying he intends to “print it, shred it and throw it in the trash.”

Speaking about the document, Makhashvili said the authorities had hoped such texts could help improve relations but argued the resolution was merely “propaganda papers” with no value for Georgia.

“We wanted to cooperate as much as possible on shared goals and to use documents to improve relations. However, we saw this was nothing more than propaganda material that has no price for Georgia,” he said.

He noted seven resolutions on Georgia have already been adopted and the new one will be the eighth. Makhashvili added that, rather than the trash, the document would be sent to recycling and used “for better purposes that have more value for Georgia and the Georgian people.”

The European Parliament is scheduled to discuss the new resolution on Georgia tomorrow.
