Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s European Integration Committee, has praised the United States for “promptly approving” Tamar Taliashvili’s nomination as Georgia’s ambassador to Washington.
“It is welcome that the United States of America has approved Tamar Taliashvili’s candidacy in a tight timeframe so that she can begin diplomatic work in Washington,” Makhashvili said. “This is an important step for us and we hope it will be a good start for resetting bilateral relations and taking them to a new stage.”

Acknowledging the challenges stemming from past diplomatic tensions, Makhashvili emphasized the importance of focusing on common interests. “The main function of ambassadors will be to identify common interests and work on these interests,” he stated. “Both countries are eager to find common ground and restore relations based on mutual interests.”
