Levan Makhashvili, chair of Georgia’s parliamentary Committee on European Integration, said the government will take steps to prevent inflated prices and ensure they align with the country’s economic reality.
“We will identify any problems in how these prices are formed, and most importantly, we will make sure they are not inflated and correspond to Georgia’s economic situation,” Makhashvili said.
“This is extremely important for our citizens, and it was their demand. As a responsible government, we are obliged to examine the issue fully, correct what needs correction - whether legislatively or in current practice - and investigate anything that requires investigation. In any case, this will be a very interesting, multi-month process, with the ultimate goal of reducing prices in areas that matter most and concern our population.”
