Levan Sanikidze, one of the leaders of the opposition United National Movement, on Wednesday said during a meeting with US Congressman Joe Wilson, the discussion focused on the passage of the MEGOBARI Act, political prisoners, and the risks posed to Georgia’s European future by the ruling party’s ties with China and Iran.

“This was a very important meeting with Georgia’s close friend, Congressman Joe Wilson, where we discussed the adoption of the MEGOBARI Act, which Georgian Dream falsely claims is no longer on the agenda.

“We also spoke about political prisoners, recent developments including the detention of the UNM Political Council Chair, and the Chinese and Iranian connections through which Georgian Dream is undermining our country’s European and Western future. We feel strong party support, which reflects the broader backing of Georgian society and state,” Sanikidze said.
