Girlfriend of Georgia’s former president Mikheil Saakashvili, Ukrainian MP from the ruling Servant of the People party, Liza Yasko, has visited Saakashvili in Rustavi Prison No.12 earlier today and has told journalists following the visit that the health condition of ex-president is worsening.

“He has lost more than 20 kilos,” Yasko said.

She stated that the Georgian government’s attitude, that Saakashvili will be taken to a civil clinic if his health ‘deteriorates too much,’ is ‘absolutely unacceptable.’

Yasko repeated the position of the opposition that Georgian municipal elections ‘were fabricated’ by the ruling Georgian Dream party.

The Georgian Justice Ministry has several times offered Saakashvili to receive treatment in a prison clinic as he has been on hunger strike since his arrest in Tbilisi on October 1.

However, Saakashvili has declined the offer, stating that the prison clinic lacks equipement to ensure a proper service.

The ministry dismisses the reports and says that the prison clinic is ‘well-equipped.’

Saakashvili and Yasko announced their relationship on Facebook shortly after Saakashvili was arrested.

The former president is not officially divorced.

Sandra Roelofs, Saakashvili’s ‘ex-wife,’ said that she was not aware of the relationship.

Saakashvili says that he returned to Georgia after eight years in political exile to change the Georgian Dream leadership.
