Ukraine’s Security Service struck a Russian oil facility in the Yaroslavl region overnight, more than 700 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, the country’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces carried out long-range strikes against key targets in Russia and in temporarily occupied territories, describing the operations as part of ongoing efforts to weaken Russia’s military and energy infrastructure.
“We achieved good results against important targets of the aggressor state,” Zelenskyy wrote, adding that Security Service units hit an oil facility in the Yaroslavl region, which he said was “critical for the enemy’s supplies.”
He also said Ukrainian forces reached the Azot plant in Russia’s Tula region, which he described as strategically important for the production of explosives.
Zelenskyy further noted that air traffic restrictions were introduced at six Russian airports, while air raid alerts were declared across 28 regions overnight.
He added that strikes were also carried out against Russian military logistics in temporarily occupied territories, framing the operations as part of Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions plan” in response to Russia’s continued invasion.
“We offered Russia's leadership all possible formats for negotiations, and the response was only a continuation of the aggression and attempts to expand it. Logically, the war is returning to where it came from. Ukraine needs peace. Glory to Ukraine!”, he wrote.
