Ukrainian MP Andriy Parubiy shot dead in Lviv

Former Ukrainian Parliamentary Speaker Andriy Parubiy on Saturday was killed in Lviv following a shooting incident.

According to police, a call reporting gunfire in Lviv’s Frankivsk district was received around noon. Parubiy, born in 1971, sustained fatal injuries and died before medics arrived.

Authorities confirmed that the victim was a well-known political and public figure. Law enforcement agencies said they are taking all necessary measures to identify and locate the shooter, stressing that details will be disclosed in line with criminal procedure law.

Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Administration, said security services had been mobilised to track down the suspect.

Parubiy served as speaker of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada between 2016 and 2019. He played a role in Ukraine’s modern political history, particularly in the fields of national security, parliamentarism, and civic engagement.
