German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi have arrived in Ukraine, Ukrainian media reported on Thursday, citing the press service of the Ukrainian Railway Company.
“German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi wish you a peaceful morning from our diplomatic train,” the company said via Telegram.
The three leaders took the night train to join Ukraine capital Kyiv, the French presidential office said on Thursday, confirming earlier reports.
France’s Ambassador to Kyiv, Etienne de Poncins, published on his Twitter account a photo taken by the Italian daily La Repubblica paper of the three leaders in a train en route to Kyiv.
The visit comes as Ukraine once again asked for more weapons to fend off Russia advances in the south and the east.
