Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili is visiting Spain to take part in the 4th United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday.

The high-level forum, held under the auspices of the United Nations, focuses on the mobilization of financial resources and the reform of the global financial architecture in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference has drawn participation from over 70 heads of state and government, as well as foreign and finance ministers and other senior officials from across the globe.

The opening session is being addressed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. King Felipe VI of Spain is officially inaugurating the event.

Minister Botchorishvili is scheduled to deliver a speech during the general debate, highlighting Georgia’s contribution to the achievement of the SDGs, its regional role, and the country’s experience in maintaining economic stability, financial resilience, and sustainable growth.

As part of her visit, the Georgian Foreign Minister will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with her counterparts from participating nations.
