Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said the international forum marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality provides an opportunity for high-level meetings with regional leaders.
Speaking to reporters in Turkmenistan, Botchorishvili noted that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze had already met with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister, Ali Asadov.
“We have a very important bilateral agenda with this country and it is essential that issues concerning our political and economic relations be discussed at the highest level. Azerbaijan is a key partner for Georgia and our close cooperation requires continuous high-level political dialogue,” she said.
The Minister added the forum will also enable meetings with other Central Asian leaders - engagements she described as important for Georgia, particularly in terms of maximizing the country’s transit potential.
“During these meetings, priority will be given to trade and economic relations and the issues that are central to Georgia’s current economic development agenda,” Botchorishvili added.
