Georgian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Maka Botchorishvili has highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with the United States following a meeting with the mayor of San Francisco during her visit to the US.
Speaking after the meeting on Friday, Botchorishvili said discussions focused on cooperation between Georgia and the city, as well as the launch of a new Georgian innovation hub in San Francisco.
According to the minister, the hub will work closely with Georgia's Consulate General and serve as a platform for expanding technological and business links between the two countries.
"We discussed cooperation between Georgia and the city, as well as the new development in San Francisco – the opening of an innovation hub," Botchorishvili said. "It is particularly important that both the Georgian Consulate General and the innovation hub receive full support in this city."
She described San Francisco as a major economic and technological centre offering significant opportunities for both Georgian and American businesses.
Botchorishvili said Georgia's stronger presence in the city could help attract new partnerships and investment opportunities while raising the country's profile in the United States.
The minister also stressed the importance of political support for deepening bilateral cooperation, adding that existing ties provided a solid foundation for further development.
Commenting on broader US-Georgian relations, Botchorishvili pointed to the recent visit of US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau to Georgia as evidence of what she described as a positive trend in relations between the two countries.
She said the high-level US participation in events marking Georgia's Independence Day and recent messages from Washington were encouraging signs for the future of bilateral ties.
"The messages we have heard are encouraging and give hope that relations between Georgia and the United States will continue to develop," Botchorishvili said. "We hope to create new opportunities that will allow relations between our two countries to reach the level that both Georgia and the United States deserve."
